Interminable impatience, terminable impatience

For the author, impatience may be a sign of the indefinite postponement of satisfaction caused by an unconscious conflict arising from deficient derive imbrication, which maintains desire and its prohibition at one and the same time: this is interminable impatience. Terminable patience makes it possible to free oneself from perverse domination. These two situations are illustrated by clinical vignettes and the fictional stories of Henry James.
