The author sets out to examine the inevitable impacts and transformations affecting the symbolic system of young people resulting from the bodily transformations of adolescence. He dwells on the symbolic reorganisation that takes place at this moment in life as well as on the anxieties stemming from this process and its consequences. During this period of life, the “dismantling” of the system of representations formed throughout childhood arouses the return of primitive anxieties, notably annihilation-anxiety.
