The deep crisis currently affecting the EU leads to a reflection on the very meaning of European integration, and in particular on the sense of belonging to that organization. Based on the approach of Karl Deutsch security communities this contribution is twofold : firstly we aim at operationalizing the concept of sense of community proposed by Deutsch so that we can analyze the European feeling ; we then propose a typology of the sense of community by group of countries. From a methodological standpoint, the study was conducted through the methods and techniques provided by multiple correspondence analysis. The above studies rely on survey data from Eurobarometer wave 83.1 of March 2015 which has been conducted on a population of 17 390 people in the 28 states EU Member States.
