A meeting with the Austrian psychoanalytical societies: a return of the unthought? Report on a workshop that took place in Vienna during the EPF Congress in July 2022

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2024. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This was a round-table discussion held in Vienna during the EPF Congress in 2022, with a view to meeting the two Viennese psychoanalytical societies, WAP and WPV. The former was re-founded on the ruins of the one that existed before the war, while the latter was created by Igor Caruso, emanating from the working circle that existed within the Göring Institute during the war. Eveline List has done some research on Caruso’s career, which does not seem to have been well received by the members of the two societies. The Association, founded by Caruso, only became part of the IPA in 2013. It was not until 1988, after the Bamberg Congress in 1987, that it was possible to start talking about what had happened during the war and Nazism. A member of the British society asked a number of questions about the fate of Austrian members who maintained their positions under Nazism, about the relations between the two Viennese societies and about what had been passed on from the Göring Institute. The creation of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Academy, which is dedicated to psychoanalytic training, was then discussed. The round table was followed by lunch with E. List, who focused on the transmission of lies in Viennese societies, which appear to be both friends and rivals.
