Type de matériel :
70
The aim of this article is to examine how Émile Borel, on the basis of his research concerning the structure of real numbers and his rejection of the abstract views of Georg Cantor, discovered in probability calculus an appropriate tool for formulating a new approach to the issues at hand. At the same time he became aware of the usefulness of probability calculus with regard to the questions raised by physics and society.
