Thus, we approach his work via its object Darwinism and the theory of biology as well as by its style, marked by the heritage of Georges Canguilhem and its ambivalent relationship to “historical epistemology”. We also try to bring to light lesser-known aspects of his work that reveal that Jean Gayon was more than just a historian and philosopher of biology.
