Family Resources and School Careers: The Situation of the Comorian Immigrants in Marseille

The article shows a special aspect in the school careers amongst the young people coming from Comorian and Mayotte-people immigration in a big city in France (Marseilles): the familial support this young people receive which represent a crucial space of resources in these schooling. Interviews with 30 young people have been collected, and completed (parents, professionals, members of an association) surround an manage them. The research approach, alternating data collection from the ground and theorical developments, refers to the “Grounded theory”. The results show how families organized themselves during migration and develop community resources that they pass on to their offspring. The perception by young and the kind of relation between Comorian families and school are described and illustrated.
