Fostering children repatriated from the Iraqi-Syrian zone: analysis of the experiences and practices of french foster parents

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Among the children accompanied by the social welfare services in France, some have been repatriated from the Iraqi-Syrian zone or from Turkish camps and placed to foster families. The points of views of the “assistants familiaux” (professional foster carers in France) about the unprecedented reception of these children, in the current socio-historical context, are at the centre of the exploratory qualitative research carried out in educational sciences and presented here. From the broad exploration of the discourse produced by four foster carers, two lines of analysis emerged: the emotional and professional commitment to which they testify, and their consideration of the children’s past in their daily practices. The collected and analysed interviews open up perspectives for reflection on a form of care perceived as new, where the specificities need to be questioned.
