Bonds and ruptures

The logic of living beings guaranteed by the nervous system allows us to go beyond the perspective of the bonds that connect us but at the same time hold us back versus the ruptures that relieve us but make us feel insecure. The logic of life sheds light on what seems to be a paradox in order to propose a consistent vision of a movement of life. Bonds are a source of self-confidence, ruptures a source of freedom: these two aspirations are the two polarities of one and the same existential need, namely the need for security. Understanding this vital process allows us to accompany the child and the adult when emotions occur in times of change. Indeed, the sensorial and relational consciousness of what is going on in situations of fear, anger, and sadness enables us to be in relation with this need; a relation that has to be experienced in one’s own body as well as in one’s relationships to others. Emotions are then recognized as the witnesses to our resistance to adapt ourselves to a changing reality. We are balanced when we are free to celebrate the bonds that make us feel secure AND when we feel reassured to celebrate the ruptures that liberate us.
