Employee loyalty appears to be an important performance factor for very small enterprises (VSEs). This research looks at the representation of the determinants of loyalty by VSE employees themselves. Based on a qualitative study of nineteen employees in the hairdressing sector, our results highlight thirteen main factors, including work-life balance and managerial support. The analysis of the associations between the loyalty factors shows an optimal classification in three dimensions. This analysis highlights that loyalty in VSEs is largely a function of the congruence between the employee and the management style of the manager.
