It is possible to identify several indications of how surrealism was received in Brazil in 1925. At first, many significant figures of Brazilian literature and literary criticism were unfavorable to the movement. This changed with the appearance of the Revista de Antropofagia, which supported a movement that would integrate the conquests of surrealism even without the effective formation of a surrealist group in the country.
