Networking in a Christian space? Representativeness and networks in papal correspondences from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries
Type de matériel :
1
The significant gaps in the series of recorded apostolic letters of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries prompt a review of the effectiveness of networking in the Christian space through pontifical letter-writing. With this in mind, we examine the process of producing and registering these letters. The representativeness of European regions in these volumes is then questioned, as are the ways in which decisions were subdelegated. Finally, we seek to understand how the dispatch of papal letters worked in practice, bundled together and combining replies to royal requests, orders, solicitations, and favors.
