Changes in the Global Dairy Market: Is Europe Making a Mistake?

Globalisation appears as a changing geohistorical process. Beyond the idea of global market, the economic interventionism is back, and protectionism and regionalisation are becoming clearer. The global dairy market is an excellent example. However, the farming policy of the European Union seems to correspond to a liberal approach of livestock farming: removal of the regulatory frameworks, plan to conquer the global market – especially in China –, competition between national production systems. In this context, rivalries are increasing, leading to a risk of weakening some European countries in the market, especially France.
