Resilience can be defined as the process of adjustments adopted by a society or an individual to maintain, marginally change, or transform an individual or collective object of reference in the face of one or multiple endogenous or exogenous events. This article analyses how research on resilience in international relations has evolved in the past years, particularly in its detachment or connection to neoliberalism. It goes on to discuss the development of a specific resilience research program, marking the concept’s independence.
