Does the bioethical debate within institutions consist in weighing rationally between themselves all possible arguments? Institutions that drive the bioethical debate — such as Parliament, the Bioethics National Advisory Committee or the Biomedicine Agency Advisory Committee — do not seem to favour rational arguments that would go against the political will, the latter having set the framework of their mission beforehand.
