By categorizing substances into three types, namely God, Christ, and creatures, and considering created substances as individuals, Conway posits that each individual possesses a certain corporeality. This article aims to illuminate the implicit relationship between the concepts of “body” and “individual” in Anne Conway’s Principles. Within Conway’s metaphysical framework, the body not only contributes to the process whereby created substances are individuated but also serves as the embodiment of their individuality. Nevertheless, Conway’s specific view of mind and body, coupled with her theory of transmutation, raises challenges regarding the discussed principle of individuality.
