The Unthinkable: School Violence
Type de matériel :
91
In the present context, people fear for schools; they fear for the young people who attend them; they fear schools will be targeted by a cruel attack for the simple reason that they are tasked with educating, training, and protecting young generations; and they fear that violence will be introduced into schools. This paper examines the only forms of school violence which can be influenced, provided there is a will to do so. These concern violence which the institution, teachers, and administrators may inflict due to their psychical inability to consider themselves as the subjects of a group or of an institution. This paper is based on narratives by participants in analysis groups about situations and critical incidents that occur after an attack by an authority figure of which he/she is unaware.
