The “Testing” of the Structure and the Subjectification Process in a Therapy Group for Young Children

The author outlines the process of subjectification developing during the early phase of forming a therapy group for autistic and psychotic children between the ages of 4 and 6. Supported by the multiple meanings of the terms, we note different levels of « testing » the structure and of the « co-tested » in the group, which leave their traces in the onset of primary symbolization. He suggests hearing the declensions of testing oneself in the testing of the structure as a sign of psychic maturation occurring within the therapy space, and also as an analog of psychic maturation in general, as it takes place within the primary environment. That environment is not only maternal but also includes to the group, and is therefore intersubjective (it being understood that the group phenomenon is also contained within the maternal). Further, this study defends the notion of the complexity of the duality structure/process, so that we can grasp the internal construction of the limiting container which develops from intersubjective feedback loops.
