Temporary Liberation of Speech in Prison. The Case of a Therapeutic Group for Sex Offenders

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2013. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : In line with the recommendations of the Conference of Consensus (2002) related to the treatment of perpetrators of sexual violence (PSV), we created discussion groups for imprisoned PSV. The description of the setting and the study of a clinical case will be used to illustrate the process that makes it possible, after a period of denial, to talk about the act committed in more detail, to consider its place in the subject’s history, and to speak of the victim in a less “persecutory” way. We will show the importance of narcissistic deficiencies which are compensated for by the group envelope and of identifying the factors of vulnerability triggering criminal acts. This work falls within the scope of efforts to prevent subsequent acts of sexual violence, and aims to allow the group’s participants to begin long-term psychotherapeutic work.
