The aim of this text is to further a better understanding of the avatars and impasses affecting the processes of psychic transmission of the institutional frame which can be observed currently in many establishments and specialized services. It argues that the ruptures of transmission – differentiated from conflictual successions – result from the unfortunate encounter between the repercussions of the transformations of the contemporary metaframe imposing a logic of management on specialized institutions – and the sedimentation of a melancholic nostalgic position which blocks the travail d’advenue (i.e. the process whereby an earlier generation accepts, and even hopes, that creativity and renewal will come from the generation to come). New recruits thus find it impossible to appropriate the frame and the institutional culture. The article concludes by exploring the processes mobilized by a clinical intervention focused on the processus d’advenue, which is the prerequisite for a creative renewal grafted on to instituting values.
