This article studies theoretical and empirical research groups which use Skype. This practice provides a meeting point for the dynamics of groups, communication at a distance, intervision and research work. An original synthesis emerges in which the object, or tool of mediation, attracts attention as well as a specific notion: attractiveness. The author begins by discussing questions linked to communication via Skype, such as affective distance or the emergence of archaic sensoriality, as well as the particular appeal to sight and speech during the exchanges, and then goes on to present the methodology of this research. The work sessions allow the group to become a space of play mobilised by the technique and its difficulties. Skype becomes a tool of mediation favouring information, reverie and creativity, and influencing countertransference experiences, which are essential in clinical research: these experiences reveal the most poignant clinical conflicts in the patients. A work session illustrates these different productions.
