The article offers some thoughts, based on Freud’s concepts of infantile excitation and trauma, on the case of a 7-year-old child who was pathologically overexcited. His dispersed schooling will be studied from the internal perspective of the school psychologist who followed this new pupil from his arrival to his departure a few months later. The analysis will focus on the repercussions on the groups (children and adults) and show how excitation topples over into trauma as soon as the framework set by the adult no longer fulfils its functions of containing and symbolization.
