Within the dialogue with the Jews that has developed in the fifty years since the publication of Nostra Aetate, the question of the Jewish claim to the Land of Israel has been raised repeatedly. What is the Church’s position on the Jewish claim to the land in the light of its interpretation of the Bible, the development of Christian tradition and the constant search for justice and peace in a broken world ? How does the Catholic-Jewish dialogue in a new age of respect and cooperation deal with the cry of the Palestinians for justice ? The article traces the development of the Church’s thinking over the past fifty years.
