First, it demonstrates that there is no proof that cultural homogeneity facilitates development. On the contrary, it portrays the fundamental role of cultural diversity in the identification of profitable opportunities by entrepreneurs. Secondly, it provides a detailed presentation of works on the supposed existence of values hostile to development. The third section criticizes this idea and challenges the European model of development based on innovation and individual values with an Asian model based on family and holistic values.
