In these times when a great number of our certainties are being questioned, wisdom, either practical or theoretical, has become a rare commodity. The paradoxical formula: “wisdom of uncertainty”, by which Milan Kundera characterized the art of the novelist, can also be applied to philosophical understanding, without being reduced to a devastating scepticism, if philosophers confront the task of becoming “reasonably reasonable” (E. Weil) in a world bearing the hallmark of violence.
