Social and Political Mobilizations: Societies in Motion

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2011. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : As Morocco pursues its policy of modernization and economic liberalization, new social actors are emerging. These actors use the Internet and Facebook as virtual spaces for free expression and as a new social framework for collective mobilizations. They bring new strategies and modes of action into the public space in an attempt to infuse conventions, customs, and beliefs with more subjective rights. The novel aspect of these actions is their extraversion. This paper looks at these collective mobilizations from the angle of a sociology of the phenomenon, an approach that analyzes actors in relationship to the Other. This relationship shows signs of a dynamic tension that produces ongoing conflicts and changes. This study is based on observations, interviews, and a literature review.
