This paper analyzes the issues at stake in the “non-idealist re-inscription” of Jacques Lacan’s thought in the field of French philosophy inherited from Althusser’s work, especially his theory of ideology. More specifically, it focuses on the “discourse analysis” proposed in the 1970s by Michel Pêcheux, who was influenced by both Althusser and Lacan. The scope of this discourse analysis is to develop a non-subjectivist theory of subjectivity.
