On the hypothesis that play cannot be approached from one unique angle, I propose a tripartite division of the various unconscious logics at work in the set-ups of childrens’ play. Although such a classification necessarily simplifies the issues, I nevertheless try to show that one cannot separate the place of play in psychoanalysis from the transference within which it develops.
