Agro-design, as it was implemented in the French postwar agricultural revolution, by its homogenizing nature, can be mapped out through a grammar of discrete objects associated with each other by links, and incorporated into sets embedded in one another. This method, when used to draw the French agrifood system, is not able to account for the unconventional designs in agriculture. To account for the singularity of a farm, we outline some elements of a method founded on example. This method calls for a different mode of conception of cartographies, accounting for the real world and the concrete actions of farmers using unconventional design approaches in the agro-ecological transition.
