Nearly three years after the introduction of the contract for improvement of individual practices, the implementation of an additional target-related remuneration for referring physicians has demonstrated its value in public health terms, particularly regarding the management of patients with chronic diseases. The generalization of this approach within the framework of the medical contract paves the way towards a new dynamic based on modernizing private practices and diversifying the methods used to remunerate referring physicians, which tends to favor the dissemination of good professional practice guidelines and prevention programs. Its extension to multi-disciplinary practices and to certain medical specialties is now under way.
