Visual Language and the Uprising

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2006. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Visual language expresses a sort of visibility in the contemporary world dominated by the image. The events that caused a stir in France in 2005 dominated screens the world over and the media became the agora for the staging of our society. This old theme of violence continues to be present in our culture and attracts the gaze of “specta(c)tors.” Violence becomes an image. It is made aesthetic and consumed, and communicates to us this desire for recognition of a marginalized part of our society. The double relationship between violence and the media society is established during riots. Visual language was thus a strong and powerful communication instrument for highlighting the rioting emotional drives and giving visibility to the Republic’s forgotten.
