Digital Visual Sociology

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2007. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Visual sociology is discovering more and more new digital technologies. Cinematographic and photographic production more and more often uses CD-ROMs and DVDs as multimedia support, permitting freer usage since, in bypassing the linear pathway imposed by paper texts, these products offer themselves to the possible destructuring of the text in favor of personalized restructurings. But for the author, the adoption of new digital technologies are principally guided by a sequence of accumulation—a system that gives preference to the container compared to the contained separating, in this way, the medium from the message. In other words, classic visual sociology considers the new technologies an opportunity for the realization of more ductile, effective, creative products, while remaining anchored to an analogical viewpoint. The author reflects on the new possible landscape of visual sociology: social scenes related to the massive use of new technologies of digital visualization.
