The musical explosion we have experienced for about half a century invites us to rethink music as a real tool for knowing and understanding the social. Although it has become a discreet environment due to its omnipresence, like a background noise we hear without listening to, music does not simply content itself with accompanying us: it possesses us and gives rhythm to our lives. Not only does it impose itself as a dynamic of the social order, but it also makes dreams come true by rooting itself in sound and poetical forms. Moreover, it participates in the process of self-creation and -accomplishment. This is because music enables man today to experience love and rebellion, to approach death, and to taste the dizziness and the violence of emotions.
