"Relational gestures differ according to the contexts into which they were incorporated. This incorporation is not simply a question of imitation; it impregnates consciousness and identity, as well as meaning and values, in a complex system. These works show three levels of coherence. An internal coherence connects behavior with intentions and with the values of the person. An interpersonal coherence is cobuilt during the moment of the exchange. Finally, an external coherence binds the person and his or her circles of belonging. The meeting between two people from different cultural systems permits the rediscovery of meanings and an awareness of these various ecological levels."
