Doubt, fantasy and delusions: A critical approach to the smart city

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2016. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This paper explores the urban model of the smart city, taking as a starting point the doubts of Le Corbusier regarding Chandigarh and the critical perspectives regarding the urban model of the Radiant City and the Athens Charter. From those doubts, the paper offers a recognition of the technical potential that powers the smart city model as well as divergent poetics and alternative criticisms. Thus, two phases of smart cities may be defined, highlighting the historical transformations and strategic adaptations of the model over recent years. The paper then describes cases that contradict the smart city model and proposes an exploration of speculative openings beyond the boundaries of technical excellence, in a strictly technological field.
