This article draws on certain notions of heritage from an educational standpoint, using the metaphor of fragrance. Thinking about the notes that constitute a fragrance, we can understand the complexity of heritage and the implications of its continuity from the past to the present. Heritage can be shared through artistic experiences and educational activities, revealing its various dimensions, its secrets, and its multiple stories. Heritage may be offered among people, and makes sense in the relationships that become established, which allow it to live and endure. Once it is available, we determine its destiny, and we bring it into the present. People’s desire to preserve heritage in a temporal continuity reveals a collective urge to integrate the past with our daily life.
