Theater directors: Different career paths, one “common destiny”
Type de matériel :

This article shows that theatre directors, despite different career paths, share the same “ Schicksalsgemeinschaft” (“common destiny”), according to the expression of Ferdinand Tönnies. This term refers to the emotional unity that builds up itself during director training, both between students and in their relationships with their teachers. It must be noted that Reine Prat’s report on unequal career paths between men and women can be traced back to when they leave training programs. Artists do not maintain the same subjective relation to their careers. After this time of disunity, the on-set work of theater directors shows another mechanism of the “common destiny,” besides the reconquest of the matrix link, i.e., the interpretative flexibility made possible by a metaphoric discourse opening the spectrum of the nature of connections to the collective.
