The affectology of atmospheres and the transaesthetics of spaces

All the spaces we pass through affect us as much as we affect them. Certain visual and/or sound artists offer us transmorphosis in the way we perceive atmospheres: diverted images, destabilising installations. Sometimes it is a question of creating strange bubbles, or on the contrary, vanishing lines. These artists simply trace in a very singular way a cartography of the emotions we experience in the ordinary, in cities or alternative places. The irruption of affects can disrupt the perfect “exhibition society” where transgender futures, or other multi-aesthetic potentialities, unfold in an incongruous way. An affectology – or anthropoetics – of the contemporary is envisaged through the embedding of metamorphoses of all kinds and the disturbance of subjectivities at work.
