Arthur Schopenhauer (1788–1860) allows us to build an epistemology of emotions in the human and social sciences through the prism of the living body. Indeed, at a time when Western societies are questioning their relationship with living beings from an ecological perspective, it is still difficult to imagine these autonomous processes that also operate in our bodies. Faced with this pitfall, we mobilize our own body as a researcher to develop a Schopenhauerian research-creation, one of the stages of which is this article. Here we examine two concepts (effort and emotion) in the light of certain experiences from our daily life as researcher. This text is presented as an epistemological discussion that everyone can use to create new representations of the living from their bodies.
