The sensitive explosion of cities: about the political-territorial aesthetics of dissent in the Chilean constituent process (2019-2022)

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This paper explores the links between aesthetics, politics, and territory during the Chilean constitution-building process. In so doing, it analyzes the political subjectivities of social organizations from Valparaíso, Chile, in recent years. Based on the content analysis of interviews and field notes, we note the emergence of a political-territorial aesthetic that challenges the neoliberal sensitive order. This new aesthetic is characterized by: a) disruptive sensitive experiences oriented toward the political struggle for dignified life that make a diversified appropriation of the city; b) the recomposition of socio-spatial links through solidarity and social organization mediated by territorial associativity; and c) the re-emergence of the paradox of political representativity that reinforces the unequal distribution of the sensitive within cities. We conclude by arguing that the sensorial regime of control limits these new aesthetic forms.
