Taking a particularly innovative approach, the Spanish film REC by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza (2007, 2009) offers a glimpse of the horror of epidemics through the spread of a deadly virus in a confined space. The concept of the film, which takes the form of a reportage, is to place the viewer at the center of the story, the camera being both witness to the action and a character in the film, leading us to share the anguish and sense of panic of the characters, in the face of the virus itself, but also in the face of the confinement experienced.
