However, what is really being done in concrete social work in favour of homeless people in emergency shelters has not been extensively investigated. We know very little about how homeless people are being taken care of. The purpose of this article is to criticize the ideology supporting the policy for this kind of emergency centers, and to show that the services delivered only worsen the misery of this specific underclass.
