Strategies to encourage citizens to participate in the fight against the ecological crisis through efforts to reduce their carbon footprint have been strongly criticized by the climate movement that emerged in 2018. However, activists have not abandoned these ecological practices. In this article, we show that their ecological engagement in daily life is particularly structured by gender and political radicalism. Everyday ecological practices are multifaceted and correspond to different rationales. While for the most moderate activists it is a matter of doing the right thing, for the most radical ones these practices allow them, without attaching any strategic significance to it, to give their social critique a basis in everyday life and fuel collective commitment.
