This study shows that teachers' work is very much structured by the culture of the school and by the requirement to transmit written knowledge following a controlled framework. However, timetable reorganization, along with a more personal approach to learning, promoting respect and recognition, did represent a change in day-to-day practice, and did engender greater motivation in pupils and additional job satisfaction for teachers.
