This article focuses on the specificities of a research practice which exists within a process of mediation between research stakeholders and economic actors. From our experience in the Godin Institute, we first show that the environment in which this process of mediation emerged had an impact on how research practices developed, and next we show that the object of research has influenced transfer modalities. We then highlight the specificities and challenges of an intermediate position between research and transfer with economic actors.
