The telework, a barrier to the workplace collective action and representation?

This article examines the impact of telework on employee workplace participation in collective action and representation. Using data from the REPONSE 2017 survey (Relations professionnelles et négociations d’entreprise), we show that telework does not seem to be a barrier to workplace participation in itself. The differences in participation observed are in fact linked to the specific profile of teleworkers (less precarious and belonging to the upper strata of the workforce). Thus the occasional teleworkers are not significantly less involved than other employees, even when limited to managers, the category in which telework is most widespread.
