Founded in 1927 by officers of the Paris police force, the Revue de la Gendarmerie, a bimonthly periodical and its official organ of research and information, still reveals today the implicit figure of Pandora, then considered decrepit and old-fashioned but finally adopted even though the policeman of the 1930s had discarded his cocked hat and boots. Meanwhile, the second figure, blurred and even prismatic and characteristic of the 1930s, shows through in the shadow of the old-time policeman, which is heavy and traumatizing for a representation subjected to public obloquy on February 6, 1934. Thus, under the stamp of modernity, the journal outlines a sporty policeman, devoted, brave, but above all professional and concerned with public order, thus rehabilitating the traditional figure of the policeman of the 1930s.
