Since its launch at the end of 2004, the Consultations jeunes consommateurs (CJC) has offered support for young drug users and their families. This study describes user profiles, assesses the response and support offered to them, and presents the individual care paths that were initiated within this setting. The analyses are based on a sample of 3,788 individuals, 78% of whom are substance users, mainly cannabis (92%). Results show a predominance of men (81%), young adults (57%), and clients referred by the criminal justice system (48%). Approximately 40% are daily cannabis smokers. The study differentiates between the various user profiles according to the sources of patient referral. When exploring the factors that influence successful attempts to reducing cannabis use in the short term, the study provides insight on the principle of therapeutic compliance by identifying some essential requirements for reducing the risk of dropping out in the early stages of treatment.
