Tardi is not only a well-known author of comic strip books, he is also an illustrator of novels, notably Louis-Ferdinand Céline’s. This study aims at pointing out the differences in the text-image relationships in certain artworks, according to the period and to the collaborations, in order to get a closer view of the success (fluidity, finesse, dynamism, reader’s stimulation) achieved by Tardi’s elaborated mode of dissemination and functionality of the images invented and placed in Céline’s unabridged text ( Journey to the end of the night).
