The role of authors’ discourse in the history of alternative comics publishing
Type de matériel :
99
This article looks back at the construction of the history of the alternative comic book publisher L’Association by its authors, and more generally at the making of its discourse. It asks how historians can and should position themselves when writing this history without being trapped in the layers of its discourse. In doing so, it deals with the methodology used (qualitative and quantitative analysis of the works, of the discourse, of the paratext, and, in particular, recourse to oral history) and shows how it proves to be effective in detaching oneself from the public image of the publisher.
